At once gritty, whimsical and highly theatrical, the story moves from high schools and universities in Massachusetts, Princeton and Ohio to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Detroit riots, Vietnam and the dockyards of Liverpool. A combination of live action and animation, the film is paired with many songs by The Beatles that defined the time

Unfortunately the story moves so quickly into the sensationalized decadence and drug-induced state of Jones, that the unknowing viewer has to wonder why anyone would care. There are only a few framing sequences with members of The Stones, particularly Keith Richards (Ben Whishaw), that show they had a great respect for him and tried to bring him back into the band as he drifted away. Mixed into the destruction of Jones is a common builder, Frank Thorogood, (Paddy Considine), who is given the unenviable task of trying to please Jones by rebuilding his estate and to watch him per Jones' manager's (David Morrissey) instructions. Thorogood's life is so far removed from all of the sex and drugs that he sees, that he envies and desires the tawdry life as well, but never quite fits in. Unfortunately, at least according to this film and according to a supposed death bed confessional of Thorogood in 1993, it led to Thorogood's murder of Jones in a swimming pool "accident". Jones' Swedish girl friend is portrayed by Tuva Nuvotny. Other Stones are played by Luke de Woolfson (Jagger), Josef Altin (Wyman), and James D. White (Watts). The film contains full frontal male and female nudity, frequent graphic sex, constant drug use and profanity, and some violence as Brian beats his girl friend and, of course, the depiction of the murder.

Being brought back to London by a young man named Anthony, Todd tells Anthony the story of a man named Benjamin Barker who lived in London fifteen years prior. Barker was considered the most skilled barber in all of London. Barker had lived happily with his beautiful wife Lucy, and their baby daughter Johanna. In spite of their happy life, the evil Judge Turpin lusted for Lucy, and as a result, falsely arrested Barker in order to have Lucy for himself. Living in Australia, Barker changed his name to Sweeney Todd, and became angry and depressed.
Todd returns to his old barber shop above Mrs. Lovett's pie shop on Fleet Street, where Lovett tells him that his wife took poison after being raped by Judge Turpin and took Todd's daughter Johanna for himself. Hearing his family's fate, Todd vows revenge on Turpin and all of those who wronged him. Meanwhile, Anthony is walking the street and sees Johanna in a window of Turpin's house and instantly falls in love with her, much to Turpin's disapproval.
Todd goes with Mrs. Lovett to the market where he denounces the Italian street barber Adolfo Pirelli and his young assistant Tobias "Toby" Ragg. Todd challenges Pirelli, who claims to be a master barber, to prove his shaving finesse in a speed contest. Seeing Bamford, Judge Turpin's assistant in the market, he asks him to judge the contest. Todd wins the contest, and after invites Bamford to his "tonsorial parlour" for a complimentary shave.
When Mrs. Lovett and Todd return to Fleet Street, Pirelli, after revealing himself as Todd's old assistant, Davey Collins, attempts to blackmail Todd with his former identity. Pirelli is murdered by an enraged Todd, and Toby is told that Pirelli was called away. As a result, Toby is employed at the pie shop.
Judge Turpin reveals to Bamford his marriage proposal to Johanna, however is disappointed by her refusal. Bamford suggests that he go to Todd and get a shave. Turpin agrees and goes to Todd for a shave. When Todd is about to kill him, they are interrupted by Anthony. Upon seeing Anthony, Turpin rages and vows to never come to Todd's establishment again. Furious at the thwarting of his plans for vengeance, Todd directs his anger at his innocent customers, who, as Mrs. Lovett suggests, can be baked into delicious pies in her oven. Todd enthusiastically agrees to this suggestion and even installs machinery in his barbers' chair to dump the bodies of his victims through a trap door to Lovett's basement bakehouse.
As Todd's barber shop and Lovett's pie shop prosper financially, Mrs. Lovett expresses her desire to marry Todd, shortly before Anthony returns to the shop to reveal that he has found Johanna at the insane asylum. Hearing this, Todd instructs Anthony to disguise himself as a wigmaker's apprentice and break Johanna out of the asylum. Todd then writes a letter to Turpin informing him of Anthony's plans to abduct Johanna to lure the evil Judge to the Barber shop. Toby to deliver the letter, and upon his return, expresses concerns about Todd to Mrs. Lovett, whom he'd become attatched to like a mother. Mrs. Lovett consoles him and lures him into the bakehouse, locking him inside.
Meanwhile, Bamford comes to Fleet Street investigate "foul odors" coming from the chimney of their building. While Todd lures Bamford into his barber shop, Toby (in the bakehouse) discovers the human bodies that are being ground up and put into the pies. Todd kills Bamford, and Toby flees into the sewers, narrowly avoiding Todd and Mrs. Lovett, who come down to kill him.
Meanwhile, Anthony and Johanna return to Todd's barber shop, where he tells her to wait for him. Disguised in men's clothing, Johanna takes a look around the shop, where she picks up a picture of what she does not realize is her mother holding her. She quickly scrambles into a chest in the corner of the room as a crazed beggar woman (seen previously throughout the film collecting alms and warning townspeople of Mrs. Lovett) enters, looking for Beadle Bamford. Soon after, Todd returns to the shop and is surprised by the beggar woman, who appears to recognize Todd. Hearing Turpin about to enter, Todd, in a panic, quickly slits the beggar woman's throat and drops her body down the chute. Turpin enters the room seconds later and accepts Todd's spontaneous offer for a shave. Looming with his sharp razor over Turpin, Todd reveals his true identity to the Judge and then brutally murders him, stabbing him in the neck and slashing his throat.
Todd then discovers Johanna hiding in the trunk and, not recognizing her, prepares to kill her. Mistaking her for a man, he offers to give her a shave only to be interrupted by Mrs. Lovett's screams from downstairs. He leaves his daughter with a warning to forget his face and races to the bakehouse. Mrs. Lovett, identifying the beggar woman's body, tries hurriedly to dispose of the corpse, but when she opens the oven door and light is shed on the face of the beggar woman, Todd recognizes her as his wife, Lucy, whom he believed to be dead. Lovett then reveals that Lucy survived her suicide attempt, but the poison drove her mad. Mrs. Lovett tries to persuade Todd she lied because of her love for him, claiming she was "only thinking of him". Todd, deranged, proceeds to waltz with Lovett around the bakehouse and furiously throws her into the oven. Todd closes the furnace door. Todd then returns to Lucy and cradles her dead body. An enraged Toby emerges and picks up Todd's discarded knife, and slashes his throat. Todd dies holding Lucy in his arms

And now, almost two months later I still don't know how to put into words the experience of seeing Control. Directed by the fabulous Anton Corbijn, and staring newcomer Sam Riley, the film tells the tale of the infamous Ian Curtis, however it isn't a typical biopic. The film is mostly from the perspective of his wife Debroah (and based off her memoirs) and the always wonderful Samantha Morton plays the role with such force and apt that you feel physically uncomfortable at numerous times during the film. Paying homage to the music, and with a tasteful, yet horrifying take on Curtis' eventual demise, Control is a film worthy of high praise, personally putting it up right against Sid And Nancy in top musical films.

There he falls in love with sheltered American teenager Lucy. When her brother Max is drafted to fight in the Vietnam War, they become involved in peace activism. The film title and main characters are named after various songs by The Beatles.
I thought I would put together a little synopsis/review of the movie, so you can decide whether to see it or not .The plot of the movie, while full of many side stories and copious characters, is pretty simple. The general story-line is that a guy named Jude travels to America from Liverpool, England to find his father, and at the same time falls in love with a girl named Lucy. the story is set in the middle of the Vietnam war, and Lucy decides to join a protest group who turn radical, which weakens Jude and Lucy’s love for each other. Jude ends up getting sent back to England beause he came to america without a visa. I won’t ruin the ending for you, but it involves the song “All You Need is Love”. The cool thing about the movie is that it stitches the story together with songs by The Beatles. I really liked this, as I like The Beatles’ music. The songs seem to fit so perfectly, and they help tell the story in a unique way.Now for my thoughts on the movie. I liked this movie, I thought I had a plot that wasn’t too predictable. It was a little psychedelic in parts, but I guess that’s understandable as it is set in the late 1960’s (if I did my math correctly). I thought the characters had good “chemistry,” which is all to uncommon in movies these days.I would give the movie 4 out of 5. It had a good story, good music, and overall, it was great!Across the Universe is now available on iTunes, or at your local dvd store

Troy (Zac Efron), the popular captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella (Vanessa Anne Hudgens), the brainy and beautiful member of the academic club, break all the rules of East High society when they secretly audition for the leads in the school's musical. As they reach for the stars and follow their dreams, everyone learns about acceptance, teamwork, and being yourself. And it's all set to fun tunes and very cool dance moves! Featuring the hottest talent, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL celebrates the power of music in this hip, entertaining, gotta-get-up-and-dance movie.
What time is it? Time for High School Musical 2, the sequel to the Disney Channel smash that aired on Aug. 17, 2007 and became the most-watched basic-cable show ever. School is out, and Troy (Zac Efron) and Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) are looking forward to a summer to remember, but Troy also needs to make bank so he can go to college. As it turns out, Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale), the self-proclaimed primo girl of East High, has her eye set on primo-boy Troy, and gets him a job at the country club her parents own. It looks great for Troy when Gabriella and the rest of the Wildcats are hired also, but when he gets preferential treatment from the club manager (Mark Taylor) and others, it puts all of his relationships in hot water.
Everyone's back from the original movie, including Zac's buddy Chad (Corbin Bleu), Sharpay's brother Ryan (Lucas Grabeel), and Gabriella's friend Taylor (Monique Coleman). And the songs on the hit soundtrack often parallel the originals and are just as catchy: the Troy-Gabriella duet ("You Are the Music in Me," which is later Sharpay-ized into a rock version), the sports-flavored hip-hop number ("I Don't Dance," but this time on the baseball diamond instead of the basketball court), the Gabriella lament ("Gotta Go My Own Way"), the climactic stage duet ("Everyday"), and the mass-ensemble closer ("All for One"). But the sequel doesn't just stick to the status quo. Other songs include a flashy opener ("What Time Is It"), Sharpay's poolside feature ("Fabulous"), a percussive ensemble number ("Work This Out"), and Zac's solo ("Bet On It"), and the dances are even bigger this time around, relentlessly high-energy and often spectacular. In addition, the "let's put on a show" angle ! is only a subplot and the romance is now front and center--which means High School Musical has lost a bit of its innocence. But it's still wholesome viewing for tweens of all ages. Sharp-eyed Disney Channel fans will spot Miley "Hannah Montana" Cyrus as an extra.
The extended-edition adds one new scene, in which Sharpay and Ryan perform the Hawaiian-themed "Humuhumunukunukuapua'a," which not only is fun but adds a bit of character development for Ryan. This number (which was on the CD as a bonus track) is incorporated into the movie and also accessible from the bonus-features menu, along with a four-minute blooper reel and music videos for "You Are the Music in Me" (one U.S. version and a Mexican version with Paulina Holguin and Roger) and "Gotta Go My Own Way (Canadian versions in French and English, both with Nikki Yanofsky). A "dance rehearsal cam" shows the choreographers and cast working on nine numbers (36 minutes total). Director-choreographer Kenny Ortega coaches, offers pep talk, and declares, "If it wasn't for Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon, we wouldn't be here!" There are two sing-along options, one with English subtitles and a "karaoke" version with English subtitles but no vocals
